Kim Kardashian West on Wednesday celebrated President Trump’s move to commute the life sentence of Alice Marie Johnson, a 62-year-old woman serving a life sentence on nonviolent drug and money laundering charges.

Trump granted clemency to Johnson after Kardashian West personally lobbied the president on the issue in the Oval Office last week.

“BEST NEWS EVER!!!!” Kardashian West wrote in a tweet Wednesday.

The reality television star went on to thank Trump and his son-in-law Jared Kushner, who serves as a top White House adviser, for their work on the matter.

“So grateful to @realDonaldTrump, Jared Kushner & to everyone who has showed compassion & contributed countless hours to this important moment for Ms. Alice Marie Johnson. Her commutation is inspirational & gives hope to so many others who are also deserving of a second chance,” Kardashian West tweeted.

“I hope to continue this important work by working together with organizations who have been fighting this fight for much longer than I have and deserve the recognition,” she added.

Johnson had already served 21 years in prison.

“Ms. Johnson has accepted responsibility for her past behavior and has been a model prisoner over the past two decades,” the White House said in a statement.

“While this administration will always be very tough on crime, it believes that those who have paid their debt to society and worked hard to better themselves while in prison deserve a second chance.”

Kardashian West said after the meeting with Trump that he “really spent the time to listen to our case that we were making for Alice. He really understood, and I am very hopeful that this will turn out really positively.”

The news comes after CNN reported on Wednesday that the president was preparing to pardon dozens of people.
