An artist’s reaction to first lady Melania Trump’s eye-catching jacket with the words “I really don’t care. Do U?” is making the rounds on social media.

Artist Justin Teodoro told CBS News that he was shocked when he first saw the Zara jacket worn by the first lady Thursday on a trip to see children at a migrant center in Texas. Teodoro said he instantly felt the need to respond.

“I was a little bit floored by it, and I was trying to figure out how I could react and put something out there,” Teodoro told the outlet. “Not angry — something that’s a little bit more hopeful.

The artwork also shows the statue holding hands with the migrant girl from Honduras who was seen crying in a photo that captured widespread media coverage this week.

In less than a day, the drawing has amassed more than 26,000 likes on Instagram and 1,200 comments.

The first lady drew criticism after she was photographed wearing the controversial jacket while boarding a plane to visit immigrant children held in detention centers in Texas.

Trump’s spokesperson criticized the media frenzy over the jacket, saying that “there was no hidden message in the first lady’s wardrobe choice.

But President Trump contradicted that statement, saying in a tweet that the message referred to “the Fake News Media.”

“Melania has learned how dishonest they are, and she truly no longer cares!” the president tweeted.

Other artists and brands have also created homages to the jacket.
