Wife of new White House official targeted sexual harassment accusers on Twitter: report

The wife of President Trump’s new deputy chief of staff for communications lashed out at women on Twitter who have accused Fox News officials of sexual harassment.

Darla Shine’s husband, Bill Shine, is a former Fox News executive who has been accused of looking the other way while high-profile figures at the network reportedly harassed and discriminated against female employees. 

Darla Shine on Thursday deleted her Twitter account just one hour after Bill Shine was announced as the newest member of the Trump administration, HuffPost reported.

Her social media feed, however, has been archived as far back as six years ago by The Internet Archive’s Wayback Machine.

The White House did not immediately return The Hill’s request for comment. 

HuffPost reported that Darla Shine last month attacked former Fox News host Gretchen Carlson in a tweet.

“I guess if you ignore the FACT that Gretchen would still be at FNC [Fox News Channel] if they hadn’t fired her for abysmal show ratings & how she kept kissing up to BILL & ROGER till the end!” Darla Shine’s tweet read of the former Fox News host who sued former Fox News Chairman Roger Ailes for sexual harassment and retaliation in 2016.

Ailes later left the company and Gretchen’s lawsuit led to a settlement with the network.

Darla Shine appeared to defend her husband in another tweet which shows a screenshot that was not visible on the internet archive, HuffPost noted.

“What a joke this is. Bill Shine built #FOXNEWS everyone currently there knows he was never accused of sexual harassment but too afraid to speak up,” she wrote. “So glad my husband isn’t a liar. Karma gets everyone in the end.”

In another tweet that has since been deleted, Shine wondered how producers were going to make a movie about Ailes.

It was announced in May that actress Charlize Theron will play ex-Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly in an upcoming movie about Ailes. 

Kelly, now working with NBC, has accused Ailes of making inappropriate sexual innuendos, trying to forcibly kiss her and threatening her to remain silent about his actions. 

Darla Shine in a tweet said Kelly’s claims weren’t credible and said Ailes’s accused harassment was nothing more than an “awkward hug,” HuffPost reported.

Ailes denied the accusations until his death in May 2017.

Bill Shine was named co-president of the network after Ailes was ousted but left shortly after following months of bad press.

He still maintains close ties with figures at Fox News and popular on-air personalities like talk show host Sean Hannity.
