Fox News contributor Jonah Goldberg is characterizing members of Congress as a “parliament of pundits” who just want to “secure their position on ‘Morning Joe’ or ‘Fox & Friends.'”

Goldberg offered the remark in an interview with The New York Times for a feature on outgoing House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) that was published Tuesday

The story by the Times’s national correspondent, Mark Leibovich, said that a number of Republican lawmakers seek to get on Fox News in the hope of defending the president — and having Trump see it.

{mosads}“It’s not so much a Congress as much as it has become a parliament of pundits,” Goldberg, who also serves as a conservative political columnist for the Los Angeles Times and National Review, said. “Everyone just wants to secure their position on ‘Morning Joe’ or ‘Fox & Friends.’ ”
The story includes an anecdote by Ryan that President Trump once called him right after an appearance on “Fox & Friends” to tell him he “looked good.”

“The president saw me on ‘Fox & Friends,’ ” Ryan told Leibovich. “He said he thought I looked good.”

Ryan added that he’s received calls from the president before after being interview on Fox News, which Trump has repeatedly lauded on Twitter and at rallies in the past.

“That happens to me a lot,”  Ryan shared.

Trump was also a regular on “Fox & Friends” for years before jumping into the political arena in 2015.

The weekly interview, which launched in 2011, was called “Monday Mornings with Trump”

Trump has provided Fox News and Fox Business Network more than two dozen interviews since taking office.

The president has not appeared on cable news rival MSNBC in 27 months and has not done any interviews with CNN since August 2016.
