Rep. Alcee Hastings (D-Fla.) on Sunday night relayed a joke about President Trump drowning in the Potomac River, drawing laughter and applause from audience members.

Hastings, speaking at a rally in South Florida, said he heard the joke from the son of a former state legislator.

“Do you know the difference between a crisis and a catastrophe?” Hastings said. “A crisis is if Donald Trump falls into the Potomac River and can’t swim.”{mosads}

He then added: “And a catastrophe is if anybody saves his ass.”

Hastings used much of the rally to criticize Trump, the Sun-Sentinel reported. He said there’s no question “that something is tragically wrong with the president of the United States in his mind,” according to paper.

Hastings also reportedly said that if special counsel Robert Mueller doesn’t bring down Trump, then “Omarosa will.” Mueller is investigating Russian interference in the 2016 election and possible ties between Moscow and the Trump campaign.

Omarosa Manigault Newman recently published her memoir, “Unhinged: An Insider’s Account of the Trump White House,” that makes several controversial assertions about her time working in the administration.
