Trump lashes out at report Ivanka Trump, Kushner helped push McGahn out: ‘So wrong’

President Trump on Thursday went after The New York Times for implying that the president’s daughter Ivanka Trump and her husband Jared Kushner helped push White House counsel Don McGahn out.

“They love to portray chaos in the White House when they know that chaos doesn’t exist-just a ‘smooth running machine’ with changing parts!” he continued.

The New York Times reported Wednesday that White House advisers Ivanka Trump and Kushner had been critics of the departing McGahn.

The Times reported that Ivanka had complained to the president about an earlier report alleging that members of the White House were previously unaware of the extent of McGhan’s cooperation with special counsel Robert Mueller’s probe into possible collusion between the 2016 Trump campaign and Russia.

The Times story has since cited a person close to Ivanka pushing back on the report, saying she had not criticized McGahn for speaking with Mueller and had not played a role in his departure. It also includes the president’s own tweet on the subject.

McGahn’s lawyer told The Washington Post last week that McGahn had not incriminated the president in his testimony to Mueller.

The president’s lawyer Rudy Giuliani had previously claimed on NBC’s “Meet the Press” that McGahn was a “strong witness” for Trump.

The president has often lashed out at the Times for coverage that he does not like.

His Thursday tweet was one in a series of attacks on the news media. 

Trump also lashed out at CNN and NBC News in tweets while saying he “cannot state strongly enough how totally dishonest much of the Media is. Truth doesn’t matter to them, they only have their hatred & agenda. This includes fake books, which come out about me all the time, always anonymous sources, and are pure fiction. Enemy of the People!”
