California Rep. Eric Swalwell (D) mocked President Trump with one of his own tweets after a video of world leaders responding with laughter to Trump’s boasts at the United Nations went viral.

Swalwell retweeted a 2014 message from Trump on Tuesday aimed at former President Obama, in which Trump accuses his predecessor of being “a laughing stock to the entire world.”

{mosads}”We need a President who isn’t a laughing stock to the entire World. We need a truly great leader, a genius at strategy and winning. Respect!” Trump wrote in the August 2014 message.

“Just leaving this here,” Swalwell added in his own caption on Tuesday.

The California Democrat’s tweet came hours after a video clip showed world leaders laughing in response to Trump’s boasts of his administration’s achievements during remarks at the U.N. General Assembly. The video was shared thousands of times on social media.

“In less than two years, my administration has accomplished more than almost any administration in the history of our country,” Trump says in the video.

After the laughter dies down, Trump continues, noting that he “didn’t expect that reaction, but that’s OK.”

Hours later, the president would tell reporters that the lines were supposedly expected to illicit laughter from his audience.

“Oh it was great. Well, that was meant to get some laughter,” he told CNN’s Kaitlan Collins.

A similar jab at the president from Virginia Sen. Tim Kaine (D) was also shared thousands of times on Tuesday.
