Outgoing U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley made an “Indian” joke about Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) on Thursday after the senator released the results of a DNA test to prove her Native American ancestry.

Haley delivered the keynote speech at the annual Alfred E. Smith Memorial Foundation Dinner and in it noted President Trump’s feud with Warren over her claim of having Native American ancestors.

{mosads}“I get it, you wanted an Indian woman, but Elizabeth Warren failed her DNA test,” Haley joked during her monologue. “Actually, when the president found out that I was Indian-American, he asked me if I was from the same tribe as Elizabeth Warren.”

Haley’s parents emigrated to the United States from Punjab, India.

Warren on Monday released the results of a DNA test, which Stanford University professor Carlos Bustamante said “strongly support” Warren’s Native American ancestry.

The Cherokee Nation on Monday responded to Warren’s release of her DNA test results, calling the move “inappropriate” and “wrong.”

Trump has repeatedly gone after Warren’s claims of Native American heritage and frequently calls her the racially charged nickname “Pocahontas.”

He blasted Warren after her revelation and claimed that she had taken a “phony” test.

“Pocahontas (the bad version), sometimes referred to as Elizabeth Warren, is getting slammed. She took a bogus DNA test and it showed that she may be 1/1024, far less than the average American. Now Cherokee Nation denies her, ‘DNA test is useless.’ Even they don’t want her. Phony!” Trump tweeted.

Haley, a former South Carolina governor and rising Republican star, resigned earlier this month and will leave the position at the end of the year.
