Hillary Clinton on Wednesday responded to suspected explosive devices sent to her and other top Democratic officials and news outlets, saying it’s a sign of a “troubling time” in America.

“It is a troubling time, isn’t it? It’s a time of deep divisions and we have to do everything we can to bring our country together,” she said at a campaign event in Florida.

“We also have to elect candidates who will try to do the same.”
The 2016 Democratic presidential nominee also thanked Secret Service personnel who intercepted the package sent to her home in suburban New York this week.{mosads}

“We are fine thanks to the men and women of the Secret Service who intercepted the package sent to us long before it made its way to our home,” Clinton said.

The Secret Service said earlier Wednesday that it found two “potential explosive devices” in mail sent to Clinton in New York and the home of former President Obama in Washington, D.C.

Police in New York City also responded to a suspicious device that arrived at the mailroom at CNN’s offices located at the Time Warner Center.

Chelsea Clinton made similar remarks to her mother on Twitter earlier in the day Wednesday, expressing her gratitude to the Secret Service.

“Every day, I am grateful to the women and men of the United States Secret Service,” she wrote. “Thank you.”

The FBI announced that it had activated the Joint Terrorism Task Force to assist with the investigation into the package found at the Clinton residence, but declined to comment further.

Authorities on Wednesday were also investigating a package that arrived at the Florida office of Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.).

The White House condemned the attempted violence and pledged that law enforcement “will take all appropriate actions to protect anyone threatened by these cowards.”

“We condemn the attempted violent attacks recently made against President Obama, President Clinton, Secretary Clinton, and other public figures. These terrorizing acts are despicable, and anyone responsible will be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law,” White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said in a statement.
