Watch live: White House press briefing

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre is set to hold a press briefing Monday afternoon joined by Office of Public Engagement Director Stephen Benjamin, who coordinates White House relations with civic leaders around the country.

President Biden in a Washington Post op-ed this weekend made the case that his economic policies continue the fight for equality exemplified by the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. and the 1963 March on Washington. Biden and Vice President Harris are observing the anniversary of the pivotal event along with members of King’s family.

Harris this week also condemned Saturday’s shooting deaths near the historically Black Edward Waters University in Jacksonville, Fla., which the Justice Department is investigating as a possible hate crime.

The press briefing is scheduled for 1 p.m. EDT.
