Pro-Christie super PAC debuts new ad featuring Trump mug shot
New Hampshire residents will soon see former President Trump’s mug shot in a new ad from Tell It Like It Is, the super PAC backing Republican presidential candidate Chris Christie.
The 30-second ad titled “Winning Again” features a series of clips of Trump, including a photo of his mug shot, which was taken last week at the Fulton County Jail in Georgia after he surrendered in the state’s election interference case.
“Tired of the drama, the distractions, the lies? It’s time for conservatives to win again,” a narrator says as the photo is shown.
The ad goes on to tout the former New Jersey governor’s actions as a former prosecutor, including his conviction of “child pornographers” and “corrupt politicians.”
“A successful blue-state governor,” the narrator continues. “Christie took on the teachers’ union and won, turned around Jersey’s most violent city, got Democrats to cut taxes. A real conservative — Christie tells the truth and he’ll beat Joe Biden — easily.”
The ad is part of a $400,000 media buy that will air statewide beginning Friday on broadcast, cable and digital platforms in New Hampshire, the super PAC said in a statement.
Trump’s mug shot last week made him the first U.S. president in history, past or present, known to have his mug shot taken, a condition of his surrender in Georgia where he faces several charges over an alleged scheme to overturn the 2020 presidential election results in the state.
Criticism of Trump has been a large part of Christie’s presidential campaign as he has urged his GOP rivals to do the same.
The ad comes amid Christie’s campaign’s efforts to garner support in New Hampshire, which is seen by many as a crucial state to win in the GOP presidential primary. A recent Emerson College Polling survey found Christie making headway in the state, surpassing Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who has mostly polled in second place behind Trump.
