Fox News contributor Mollie Hemingway on Friday compared Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s approach in his Russia investigation to former Soviet Union dictator Joseph Stalin.

Hemingway, a columnist for The Federalist, appeared on “Fox and Friends” to discuss ex-Trump lawyer Michael Cohen’s guilty plea for lying to Congress.

“What was alleged was treasonous collusion and not just ‘this guy is someone we don’t like so we are going to punish him and anyone who worked with him,’” Hemingway said. “That’s a very Stalinist-type approach to criminal justice. It’s not how we’re supposed to do things in this country.”

{mosads} Cohen said he lied about Trump’s Moscow property plans, including his plans to travel to Russia, contacts with Russian officials in connection with the project and how long the property plans were discussed within the Trump Organization, according to court documents.

Hemingway was also responding to comments from Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) calling for Mueller’s office to further investigate President Trump’s business assets in light of Cohen’s claims.

“If someone has evidence of something wrong, then they should bring that forward,” Hemingway said.  “But in this country, we don’t decide that someone is guilty and then go on a fishing expedition until they find something that they did.”

She added that she thought it was “inappropriate” for Schiff, the top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, to suggest Mueller have a sit down in-person interview with the president.

“Anytime anyone on the right says anything about what the special counsel should do, we’re told this is obstruction of justice,” she said.
