Tyson recalls 36K pounds of chicken nuggets that may contain rubber

Tyson Foods is recalling more than 36,000 pounds of chicken nuggets after some customers said they found pieces of rubber inside of them.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) said Tuesday that certain 5-pound packages should be thrown away or returned. It added there had been no confirmed reports of anyone falling ill from eating the nuggets.

{mosads}The recall was prompted after “a small number of consumers” contacted Tyson to complain about “soft, blue rubber” they had found in the precooked nuggets, the company said.

“Though the pieces have been found in a very small number of packages, no injuries have been reported with this recall; however, out of an abundance of caution, the company is recalling 36,420 pounds of product,” Tyson said in a statement.

The chicken nuggets in question were shipped to Arizona, California, Illinois, New Jersey and Utah. The packages were produced on Nov. 26, 2018, and have an expiration date of Nov. 26, 2019.

The recall came a day after Perdue Farms recalled more than 16,000 pounds of chicken nuggets because of an undeclared milk allergen, and almost two weeks after Perdue recalled a different group of nuggets after some were found to contain wood.
