Former Rep. John Dingell (D-Mich.) vowed to continue tweeting messages to his supporters on Wednesday after reports that the 92-year-old was entering hospice care.

Dingell wrote that his wife, Rep. Debbie Dingell (D-Mich.), had agreed to keep writing his messages on the social media platform.

“The Lovely Deborah is insisting I rest and stay off here, but after long negotiations we’ve worked out a deal where she’ll keep up with Twitter for me as I dictate the messages,” the former lawmaker posted. “I want to thank you all for your incredibly kind words and prayers.”

“You’re not done with me just yet,” he added.

John Dingell retired in early 2015 as the longest-serving member of Congress and has since become known for his pointed wit on Twitter.

He has recently been in failing health, with multiple news outlets including the Associated Press and Detroit News reporting earlier Wednesday that Dingell had entered hospice care.{mosads}

The former congressman has reportedly been diagnosed with prostate cancer that metastasized last year. He has decided not to seek further treatment, according to reports.

In September, John Dingell suffered a heart attack and was hospitalized for a week.

Debbie Dingell, who replaced her husband in Congress to serve in Michigan’s 12th District, asked supporters for “prayers and privacy” on Wednesday.

“Friends and colleagues know me and know I would be in Washington right now unless something was up,” she tweeted. “I am home with John and we have entered a new phase. He is my love and we have been a team for nearly 40 years.”

“I will be taking each day as it comes,” she added. “We thank people for their friendship and support and ask for prayers and privacy during this difficult time.”
