Beleaguered cryptocurrency king and FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried was convicted on seven counts in his fraud trial in New York Thursday, ending a storied ascent that brought in millions in political donations and sparked criminal probes across agencies when FTX collapsed.
Bankman-Fried was convicted of chargesincludingwire fraud and conspiracy to commit securities fraud in his case tried in the Southern District of New York. The jury reportedly deliberated for just over four hours.
Bankman-Fried faced several charges over allegations that he defrauded his customers and investors of billions of dollars in a scheme that prosecutors have called “one of the biggest financial frauds in American history.”
Following the collapse of FTX last year, Bankman-Fried was arrested in the Bahamas in December 2022.
Watters said multiple presidential administrations have “tried to get the heck out of that stupid desert,” before decrying “these crazy Muslim fanatics” who he said “come in and massacre over a thousand of our allies. And hold Jewish people hostage, hold Americans hostage.”
Lyft also allegedly shortchanged drivers from 2015 to 2017, slashing a 11.4 percent “administrative charge” from drivers’ payment that equaled the sales tax and Black Car Fund fees that were supposed to be paid by riders.
Bob Goldberg had faced calls for his immediate resignation since August, when the Times published an article outlining the association had widespread complaints of harassment and discrimination.
