The Alternative Investment Management Association recently announced the opening of its Washington, D.C., office. The association’s deputy CEO, Jiri Krol, has relocated to D.C. to oversee the office and will be global head of the Alternative Credit Council, which is the association’s private credit affiliate.
Virgil Miller, former chief of staff to Rep. Cedric Richmond (D-La.) and a former health care staffer on the House Energy and Commerce Committee, has joined Akin Gump’s public law and policy practice as a senior policy adviser.
Jared Roscoe joined SoftBank Group Corp. in its D.C. office. He will be counsel and senior director of public policy. He previously was senior banking counsel to Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.) and before that was a senior adviser on domestic finance at the Treasury Department. He is the 10th hire in recent months for SoftBank’s D.C. team.

Kip Talley, previously chief of staff to Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.), joined Federal Advocates as senior director of government affairs.
Jim Winkler, the president of the National Council of Churches, joined the board of trustees for Americans United for Separation of Church and State.
The Advanced Medical Technology Association named Jim Jeffries senior vice president for public affairs. He replaces Greg Crist, who was promoted to chief advocacy officer at AdvaMed. From 2009 to 2016, Jeffries was senior communications director for Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) and the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee.
Chris Beatty left CLS Strategies to launch Greystone Global Strategies. The firm plans to work with companies, candidates and governments, with a particular focus on helping bridge the gap between the U.S. and emerging markets.
