Democrat says he expects Trump to ‘start selling Ivana Trump’s tombstone’
Rep. Jared Moskowitz (D-Fla.) knocked former President Trump for selling pieces of the suit that the former president wore in his mug shot photo after surrendering at a jail in Georgia earlier this year, saying he now expects sales of Trump’s former wife’s tombstone.
“I expect him to start selling Ivana Trump’s tombstone. You’ll be able to write, you know, a little signature on her tombstone for $10,000,” Moskowitz said.
Trump’s former wife died in 2022 and was buried at the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, N.J., which drew criticism.
Moskowitz’s remarks came after Trump unveiled new digital cards earlier this week, calling them the “MugShot Edition.” If people buy 47 of the non-fungible tokens (NFTs), they can receive a piece of the blue suit and red tie that Trump wore in his mug shot photo as part of his fourth criminal indictment and get an invitation to a gala dinner at his Mar-a-Lago estate.
“Someone right now is going, ‘Honey get the Apple Pay, I gotta get the lapel,’” Moskowitz told Ben Meiselas on MeidasTouch in remarks highlighted by Mediaite.
Moskowitz — who represents Florida’s 23rd District, just south of the former president’s property — said Trump’s support is “unexplainable” but “people are just drawn to this guy.” He also labeled Trump a “televangelist president” and said the former president is “the best QVC blender salesman we’ve ever had.”
“The same person complaining about the economy is saying, ‘Hey it’s a tough economy, however, I’m going to spend the $2,000 to buy the lapel,’” Moskowitz said.
Trump began selling digita. trading cards in December of last year. They sold out in less than 24 hours. He teased the initial release, saying a “big announcement” was coming soon, drawing mockery from both sides of the aisle.
