Pollster says voters view Sanders as ‘an agent of change’

Pollster Dritan Nesho compared Sen. Bernie Sanders’s (I-Vt.) poll performances to President Trump in an interview that aired Tuesday on “What America’s Thinking,” saying the two are similar in that they are both agents of change.

“I find the Sanders numbers interesting because he’s ideologically so far removed from Trump, but he’s also shaped himself into an agent of change, which a lot of the voters that did vote for Trump the last time around, which was a protest vote to some extent, like,” Nesho, CEO of HarrisX, told Hill.TV’s Jamal Simmons on Monday, referring to a poll showing Democratic voters are confident that Sanders and former Vice President Joe Biden could beat the president in 2020.

The survey, which was released on Tuesday, found that 28 percent of Republican respondents said Sanders had “some chance” of defeating Trump, while 64 percent of Democrats and 39 percent of independents said the same.

The poll also found that 32 percent of Republican respondents said Biden had “some chance” of beating Trump.

Forty-one percent of independents and 75 percent of Democrats polled also said Biden had “some chance” of defeating the president.
