2012 watch: Ridge will ‘never say never’
As one Republican 2012 contender implodes, will another one throw his hat in the (speculative) ring?
David Weigel flags this morning’s C-SPAN interview with former DHS Secretary and Pennsylvania Governor Tom Ridge (R).
On whether he might run for President in 2012:
“Some people around me have given some thought about it. I really haven’t. I learned a long time go to never say never. I think it’s unlikely, but right now I’m really focused on–I’d like to help Mitch McConnell get a few more bodies in the Senate, and I certainly want to go back to Pennsylvnia and do all I can to see that we have a Republican governor succeeding the incumbent.”
