Chaya Raichik, the creator of the right-wing social media account Libs of TikTok, has been appointed to Oklahoma’s state library panel.

Oklahoma State Superintendent Ryan Walters announced Tuesday that Raichik would be joining the state’s Department of Education Library Media Advisory Committee.

“Chaya is on the front lines showing the world exactly what the radical left is all about — lowering standards, porn in schools, and pushing woke indoctrination on our kids,” Walters said in a statement. “Because of her work, families across the country know just what is going on in schools around the country.”

Libs of TikTok is a widely circulated account in conservative media that has accused TikTok of hosting “groomers and predators” on its platform. Raichik’s account is dedicated to sharing and mocking pro-LGBTQ content.

Walters said Raichik’s “unique perspective” is “invaluable” to the department’s plan for making Oklahoma schools safer for children and “friendly to parents.”

“Chaya has a much-needed and powerful voice as well as a tremendous platform that will benefit Oklahoma students and their families,” Walters’s statement said.

Raichik reposted Walters’s post on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, and said, “We will get porn out of schools!”

A popular columnist for The Washington Post, Taylor Lorenz, wrote a report examining the origins of Raichik’s viral account. She noted that the social media phenomenon was spreading anti-LGTBQ sentiment and was shaping public discourse.

Libs of TikTok is one of the latest — and most popular — attempts at regulating reading content and educational material in public schools across the country, in largely what is noted as a push to remove content about the LGBTQ community and communities of color.
