Russia orders Tinder to turn over data to intelligence agencies

A new Russian oversight policy requires Tinder to provide intelligence agencies with user data, The Associated Press reported Monday. 

The dating app is among a list of online services operating in Russia required to send user data on demand to Russian authorities based on a new published list from the Russian Communications Oversight Agency, according to the AP.

Russia’s adopted legislation to tighten control over online activity in recent years, according to the AP. 

Last year Russian authorities ordered a ban on the messaging app Telegram after it refused to provider user data required by Russian law, according to the AP.
