Trump baby blimp soars in London as thousands protest president
The inflatable baby designed to look like President Trump took flight again in London on Tuesday morning as thousands took to the streets to protest the president’s three-day state visit.
The nearly 20-foot-long orange, inflatable baby took off in Trafalgar Square before a joint press conference with Trump and British Prime Minister Theresa May.{mosads}
Anna Vickerstaff, one of the organizers of the protest, told The Independent, “Our balloon is part of a proud history of political satire in the UK that sends a clear, orange, message to Trump and his politics of hate that they are not welcome here.”
As many as 250,000 people may reportedly attend the scheduled protests, with tens of thousands set to march from Downing Street to Parliament Square, according to The Guardian.
Trump, however, said during the press conference that he’d seen “thousands of people” cheering him on and only a “small protest” during his visit.
Trump dismissed the protests as “fake news.”

In addition to the baby blimp, there was also a large Trump figure that depicted the president sitting on a gold toilet while wearing a “Make America Great Again” hat that also reads, “Impeach Me!”

The Guardian reported that activists had divided into blocs around Trafalgar Square, with smaller protest groups focusing on climate change, reproductive rights, the conflict in Venezuela and other hot-button topics.
London Mayor Sadiq Khan, a frequent target of Trump’s criticism, reportedly gave protesters the go-ahead to fly the inflatable baby during Trump’s visit. The blimp had made an appearance in July for another Trump visit, which was also met with widespread backlash.
