Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) joined online ridicule of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) for its now-viral tweet offering a “Boy Bye” phone wallpaper.

On Saturday the DNC tweeted, “This is a whole mood. Text ‘Boy Bye’ to 43367 to get this exclusive wallpaper,” and included an image that said “Boy Bye 2020” over President Trump’s face.

Twitter users were quick to mock the seeming appeal to younger voters, and Ocasio-Cortez responded Wednesday by saying, “Someone didn’t go to my Twitter class.”

Ocasio-Cortez hosted a session for other Democratic lawmakers on effectively using social media in January with Rep. Jim Himes (D-Conn.) The session was “on the most effective ways to engage constituents on Twitter and the importance of digital storytelling,” USA Today reported. She has led the way among lawmakers for viral videos and livestreams to engage with voters.

The freshman lawmaker’s tweet was widely endorsed by other users, who even chimed in with their own jokes.
