Trump says Biden ‘must take a Cognitive Test’

Former President Trump called on President Biden to take a cognitive test Thursday, after Biden’s doctors determined he did not need one during his physical a day earlier.

“Crooked Joe Biden must take a Cognitive Test. Maybe that way we would be able to find out why he makes such terrible decisions,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “I took two of them, and ACED them both (no mistakes!).”

“All Presidents, or people wanting to become President, should mandatorily take this test!” he added.

Biden, who is 81, underwent an annual physical Wednesday at Walter Reed Medical Center. His doctor wrote in a memo after the exam that Biden remains “fit for duty” and had no notable changes in his health over the past year.

While doctors conducted a neurological exam that found no signs of stroke, multiple sclerosis or Parkinson’s disease, the White House said Biden did not undergo a cognitive test because doctors determined it was not necessary.

“He passes a cognitive test every day as he moves from one topic to another test, understanding the granular level of these topics,” press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said.

Polling has shown many voters, including some Democrats, think Biden is too old to run again, and Republicans have constantly seized on his verbal gaffes or stiff gait to argue he isn’t up to the job.

Trump, who is 77, has refrained from saying Biden is too old to be president but has said he is too “incompetent.”

The former president, who is the GOP front-runner in the race for the White House, has for years bragged about his ability to pass a test intended to detect early dementia or signs of cognitive decline. He has described the exam as involving pictures of animals and objects, and he has boasted his performance shows how mentally capable he is.

But Trump himself has also had verbal slip-ups in recent months that the Biden campaign has been quick to highlight. He mistakenly referred to the leader of Hungary as the leader of Turkey at one campaign rally, and at another event he repeatedly confused former Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) with his only remaining GOP primary rival, Nikki Haley.

“There’s no cognitive problem,” Trump said of himself during a speech Saturday. “If there was, I’d know about it.”
