Obama congratulates US women’s soccer team on World Cup victory

Former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle congratulated the U.S. Women’s national team on their Fourth FIFA Women’s World Cup on Sunday. 

The team defeated Netherlands 2-0 during the game in Lyon, France. 

“Yes! Fourth star. Back to back. Congrats to the record breakers on the @USWNT, an incredible team that’s always pushing themselves—and the rest of us—to be even better. Love this team,” President Obama tweeted.

“So proud of you, Team USA—you inspire us all!,” Michelle Obama tweeted.

President Obama honored the team in 2015, after their third World Cup victory. 

It’s unclear if the team will head to the White House to honor their win. 

Several members have criticized President Trump. Start Megan Rapinoe said in a recent interview she’s “not going to the f—— White House.” {mosads}

Trump tweeted Rapinoe should “WIN first before she TALKS!” 

Rapinoe helped her team to victory and became the second American woman to ever win the Adidas golden Boot as the top scoring player in the tournament.
