Sarah Huckabee Sanders claims Mueller testimony ‘once again vindicates’ Trump

Former White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders claimed Wednesday that Robert Mueller’s testimony vindicated President Trump, even as the former special counsel testified that his investigation did not exonerate the president.

Sanders tweeted a clip originally shared by the Trump campaign in which Rep. John Ratcliffe (R-Ga.) asked Mueller if he could think of another instance where the Justice Department “determined that an investigated person was not exonerated because their innocence was not conclusively determined,” seeking to undermine Mueller’s testimony that he did not exculpate Trump on obstruction of justice charges.{mosads}

“I cannot, but this is a unique situation,” Mueller responded.

Sanders claimed that Mueller in his testimony “all but admits it was all along a total witch hunt.”

“Didn’t take long for Mueller to once again vindicate President @realDonaldTrump. No collusion. No obstruction,” she tweeted.

Sanders added in a follow-up tweet that Mueller was a “figurehead” of an investigation “run by Democrats out to destroy” Trump.

“Thank you House Democrats for calling today’s hearing and exposing the truth for all Americans to see,” she concluded.

Sanders departed as press secretary late last month. During her nearly two years on the job, she was a fierce critic of Mueller and defender of the president’s claim that the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election was a “witch hunt.”

Mueller’s report stated that Sanders admitted to investigators that she lied to reporters when she claimed she’d heard from “countless” FBI officials who were happy with the president’s decision to fire former Director James Comey.

The 448-page report did not establish a conspiracy between the Trump campaign and the Russian government, and neither exonerated nor implicated the president on obstruction of justice charges.
