Politico’s Rachael Bade reports that Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) is not enjoying his leadership gig.
“He has complained about the long hours and constant travel, according to those who have recently spoken to him, and a series of escalating internal clashes have made the job a joyless slog. At least there’s this: Many of his colleagues don’t believe he’ll be doing it much longer.”

Think about it: In the past five months, Johnson has spent much of his time attempting to wrangle a rowdy caucus of fragmented Republicans while trying to meet several short-term government funding deadlines. He spent his Easter recess trying to navigate the controversial issue of Ukraine aid, which has the support of most Democrats but only some Republicans. He has been forced to compromise with Democrats to avoid government shutdowns — and those compromises led to Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) filing a motion to oust him. Sounds like a blast to me.
Hmm a Democrat, you say?: In a phone interview Wednesday with CNN’s Manu Raju, Greene compared Johnson to former Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.).
And in an interview on Steve Bannon’s ‘War Room’: Greene slammed Johnson for supporting Ukraine aid: “One guy said it to me like this. He goes, ‘Do they have Mike Johnson’s wife tied up somewhere and have a gun to her head? What is wrong with Mike Johnson?’”
