Tlaib says Trump ‘scared’ of ‘Squad’

Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) said in an interview published Sunday that she believes President Trump is afraid of the “Squad” amid an ongoing feud between the president and the group of four Democratic congresswomen.

“It’s been very clear to me, especially this last week, that he’s scared of us,” Tlaib told The Guardian. “He’s afraid of women of color … because we’re not afraid of him and we’re not afraid to speak up and say that we have a white supremacist in the White House who has a hate agenda.

“He’s afraid because we have a real agenda for the American people,” Tlaib added. {mosads}

“He can bring it,” Tlaib told The Guardian. “Because we actually have policies that came from the people. What he’s doing by choosing us four as his target is trying to distract folks from the fact that more people are living in poverty than ever, because he has failed as a president.”

Trump has continually attacked the “Squad” lawmakers, Tlaib and Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) and Ayanna Pressley (D-Mass.).

Trump said in a tweet last month that legislators, who are all women of color, should “go back” where they came from. Democrats and a handful of Republicans slammed that remark as racist.

He also recently encouraged Israel to deny entry to Tlaib and Omar.

The president has moved to paint the freshman congresswoman as party leaders.

Shortly before the Israeli government announced that it would not admit Tlaib and Omar, Trump said in a tweet “Representatives Omar and Tlaib are the face of the Democrat Party, and they HATE Israel!.”
