Sarah Sanders in talks with Clinton-linked consulting firm: report

Former White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders reportedly had discussions with a consulting firm founded by former Clinton aides.

Sanders discussed working with the firm Teneo on corporate advising on the Trump administration, but would be an independent contractor, not an employee, Politico reported Wednesday citing a former Teneo employee and two other sources familiar with the matter.

“They’ve got to walk into the room with someone who knows the White House,” one person familiar with the talks told the news outlet. “They need someone to explain how the Trump thing operates.”

{mosads}The Hill has reached out to Teneo and Sanders for comment. Both had declined Politico’s comment request.

Sanders departed the White House in June, and in recent days has launched a new website amid speculation that she will run in 2022 to be Arkansas’s governor, a position her father, Mike Huckabee, held for two terms. Sanders has also recently joined Fox News as a contributor.

Sanders’s website says that she “advises major companies and non-profits.”

Politico noted that former Trump staffers have typically not been finding footing in corporate settings after leaving the administration.

“Corporate America have basically banned Trump people from making a payday afterwards,” the person familiar told the website, noting that Sanders is “still getting corporate America, but she’s got to do sleight of hand … Nobody in Corporate America will ever pay a Trump person.”

Among Teneo’s founders are Declan Kelly, who worked in the State Department under Hillary Clinton and Doug Band, who was an aide to former President Clinton. The firm, started in 2011, has more than 800 employees according to its website
