Plurality view Pelosi negatively: Gallup

A plurality of Americans maintain a negative opinion of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) while House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) is more unknown, a new Gallup poll found.

48 percent of Americans said they had an unfavorable impression of Pelosi, compared to 32 percent who view the speaker favorably. 19 percent had never heard of her, or had no opinion.

Most Americans, by contrast, had never heard of or had no opinion of the Republican leader Boehner; 52 percent registered no opinion.

Of those who were familiar with the Ohio Republican, he maintained a slight favorable edge. 25 percent of those surveyed said they had a favorable opinion of Boehner, compared with 23 percent who had an unfavorable view.

For Pelosi, though, the unfavorability rating marks a slight downtick from a 50 percent high earlier this year.

The poll, conducted July 10-12, has a three percent margin of error.
