Mitt Romney: ISIS leader al-Baghdadi is ‘in hell’

Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) said deceased ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi is “in hell” after President Trump announced Sunday that the head of the terror organization died in a raid by U.S.-led forces. 

“Al Baghdadi spread “fire and brimstone” on earth; now he feels it for himself in hell. To all who arranged his change of venue—the intel officers, the President, the warriors—thank you,” Romney tweeted Sunday.

In a public address Sunday, Trump officially confirmed reports that the ISIS leader had died. Trump said that al-Baghdadi detonated a suicide vest after being cornered in a tunnel by U.S. Special Forces troops. He added that on-site test results confirmed that it was al-Baghdadi who died in the blast.

{mosads} “The thug who tried so hard to intimidate others spent his last moments in utter fear, in total panic and dread, terrified of the American forces bearing down on him,” Trump said Sunday.

Trump said three children died in the tunnel alongside Baghdadi, and “many” of his cohorts also died during the raid. The president said no U.S. personnel were lost in the mission.
