Donald Trump Jr.: President told me I was ‘getting a little hot’ on social media

Donald Trump Jr. said on Tuesday that his father, President Trump, advised several times to stop tweeting because he was getting a “little hot on social.”

“True or false: Your dad asked you to stop tweeting?” “Fox & Friends” co-host Brian Kilmeade asked Trump Jr. “During the election. Or after he got the job.”

{mosads}”There were a couple of times,” Trump Jr. responded. “Took me 41 years to realize I’m probably a lot more like him than we ever thought. And backed into a corner, we fight. But every once in a while I get that call, ‘hey, you’re getting a little hot on social.'”

He went on to feign incredulity at getting such advice from his father, who is known for his own vitriolic Twitter feed in which the president routinely attack his political foes.

“I will take your advice on anything … [except this]. This may be the one place where I’m going to say, I’m on my own,” Trump Jr. added.

Trump Jr. has faced criticism in recent days for his attacks on Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman, a Purple Heart recipient who testified in the House’s ongoing impeachment inquiry into President Trump.

Trump Jr. has referred to Vindman as a “leftist,” apparently without evidence.

“You only get total absolution if you are a leftist veteran. Not a veteran, just a leftist. If you’re on their side, you can do no wrong,” he said on “Fox & Friends” last week.

The president’s eldest son was an active campaign surrogate for his father during the 2016 election, and has remained a top booster of the Trump administration in the media despite remaining at the helm of the Trump Organization.

He is currently promoting his new book, “Triggered: How the Left Thrives on Hate and Wants to Silence Us,” which was released on Tuesday.
