Famed opera singer Plácido Domingo has pulled out of performing at the Tokyo Olympics, the planning committee for the games announced Thursday.

Domingo was scheduled to perform at a pre-Olympics event in April that bring together opera and traditional Japanese Kabuki theater, The Associated Press reports.

“After thoughtful consideration I have made the decision not to participate in the kabuki-Opera event due to the complexity of the project,” Domingo said in a statement released by the Tokyo organizing committee.

Domingo is facing accusations of sexual harassment spanning decades. The singer has said the allegations are “inaccurate” and said all of his relationships have been consensual, according to the AP, which first reported on the accusations.

Neither Domingo nor the planning committee mentioned the sexual harassment allegations in their statement.

In August, the AP reported that nine women had come forward with allegations of sexual harassment against Domingo.

After the allegations became public, Domingo canceled a slew of U.S. performances, including planned appearances at the Metropolitan Opera.
