Harris drops by Team USA basketball training camp: ‘Bring back that gold’

Vice President Harris stopped by the Team USA Olympic basketball team’s training camp in Nevada Tuesday to deliver a pep talk ahead of their exhibition matchup against Canada on Wednesday night.

“I just wanted to come by and remind you that our nation is cheering you on, we are so proud of you. Beat Canada, and bring back that gold,” she said, according to a video posted online.

Team USA’s quest for gold in Paris begins on July 28 with a game against Serbia.

Harris met with basketball stars including Stephen Curry, LeBron James and Anthony Davis during her stop at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, on Tuesday, per the pool report. James reportedly said meeting the vice president was pleasant.

Harris is a lifelong Golden State Warriors fan, and also chatted with Warriors and Team USA coach Steve Kerr during her visit.

Team USA is defending its gold medal in the Tokyo Summer Olympics in 2021, which were delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In the coming weeks, the team will player a series of exhibition games against countries including Australia and Germany.
