Krystal Ball warns about ‘consequential’ impact of 2020 election

Hill.TV host Krystal Ball on Thursday underscored the significance of the upcoming 2020 elections on both the United States and the world at large, particularly when it comes to issues like climate change.

“This year may well be the most consequential of my lifetime,” Ball said. “Now it’s easy of course to feel that about every election year but at this moment, it really does seem as if the country and the world hangs on a knife’s edge.”

Ball pointed to the growing need to address issues like climate change. A number of 2020 Democrats have proposed some version of the Green New Deal, which aims to address climate change and economic inequality.

“We face a climate crisis that only gives us years to act to avert the worst impacts,” she added, pointing to the deadly fires in Australia.

Ball’s comments come as Australia braces for continued drought conditions after deadly brushfires destroyed hundreds of homes.

The latest fires, which have been exacerbated by drought in the region, have caused at least seven deaths in New South Wales and another in Victoria.

Australian officials, meanwhile, have reportedly blamed the devastation on climate change.
