Jennifer Aniston shares call for action from Russell Crowe amid Australia fires

Jennifer Aniston is sharing an environmental call to action from Golden Globes-winner Russell Crowe, who says that the wildfires in Australia are undoubtedly “climate change-based.”

The New Zealand-born actor, who grew up in Australia, won in the “best performance by an actor in a limited series or motion picture made for television” category at Sunday’s 77th annual awards show for his starring role in Showtime’s “The Loudest Voice.”

Aniston, who was presenting the award, told the audience that Crowe was unable to be at the ceremony in Los Angeles because he was “at home in Australia protecting his family from the devastating brush fires.”

“He sent along this message in case he won,” Aniston said.

“Make no mistake, the tragedy unfolding in Australia is climate change-based,” said Aniston, reading the 55-year-old performer’s remarks.

“We need to act based on science, move our global workforce to renewable energy, and respect our planet for the unique and amazing place it is,” said Aniston. “That way, we all have a future,” she continued to applause.

Wildfires in Australia have torn through more than 10 million acres since November, killing at least 18 people and leading to multiple states of emergency being declared.
