Reince Priebus joins CBS News as political analyst

CBS News announced Wednesday that it has hired former White House chief of staff Reince Priebus to serve as a political analyst on the network.

Priebus, who is also a former chairman of the Republican National Committee, will provide analysis of political coverage on all of CBS News’s broadcasts and platforms. He currently serves as the president and chief strategist of the law firm Michael Best & Friedrich LLP.

During an appearance on a CBS News special report on the Senate’s impeachment trial Wednesday, Priebus said he was “looking forward to an exciting year together.”

Priebus was President Trump’s first chief of staff. He left that post in June 2017 after months of criticism from the president’s allies who said he was a weak chief of staff who was never able to become a gatekeeper for the president.

Priebus served 189 days in the Trump administration, the shortest tenure of any White House chief of staff in history. Though he was hired to use his ties to top lawmakers as a link to Congress, his time in the White House was marked by clashes with several other staffers.
