Former President Trump’s pick as his running mate,. Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio), arrives on the first day of the Republican National Convention at Fiserv Forum on July 15, 2024, in Milwaukee. Delegates, politicians, and the Republican faithful were in Milwaukee for the annual convention, concluding with former President Trump accepting his party’s presidential nomination.

Attendees sang “Happy Birthday” to Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio) during a Trump campaign rally in Nevada on Tuesday ahead of Vance’s birthday on Friday.

“Make no mistake, the terrible affordability crisis, higher groceries, higher energy prices, higher housing prices – it is destroying the American dream, and it is Kamala Harris’s fault,” Vance said while speaking to supporters in Henderson, Nev.

“Now, President Trump, of course, built the strongest economy in the history of our country,” he continued.

“I’m 40 years old – almost. I’m sad about that by the way. I turn 40 I think on Friday,” he added, before the crowd later started singing “Happy Birthday” to him, leading him to chuckle “no, no, no.”

After the crowd finished, Vance quipped they had “beautiful singing voices, great energy, you’ve got everything here in Las Vegas.” Vance was campaigning in Henderson, not Las Vegas, though Henderson resides just southeast of Las Vegas.

Vance is the first millennial to helm a presidential ticket from either party, and some Republicans are hopeful that Vance’s age could attract younger voters toward the GOP ticket heading into November.

Vance has a second scheduled rally in Nevada on Tuesday where he’ll be campaigning in Reno.
