Fox News to host Bloomberg town hall on eve of Super Tuesday
Fox News will host a town hall with Democratic presidential hopeful Michael Bloomberg next week on the eve of Super Tuesday, the network announced.
The Monday event with the former New York City mayor and billionaire businessman will take place at the Hylton Performing Arts Center in Manassas, Va.
“Special Report” anchor Bret Baier and “The Story” anchor Martha MacCallum have been tapped to moderate the town hall, which is the network’s first with Bloomberg.
“I could not be more proud that FOX News Channel continues to be a critical platform for all key candidates in the 2020 presidential election,” Jay Wallace, president and executive editor of Fox News Media, said in the announcement.
“With the largest TV news audience in the country, we are eager to continue offering viewers a robust conversation with the top players in contention for the Democratic nomination.”
Bloomberg will be making his first appearance on the ballot this year on Super Tuesday, when 14 states will hold primaries and caucuses in the Democratic race.
The businessman declined to compete in the first four nominating states in February and to instead focus on March 3, when more delegate-rich states will hold electoral contests.
Fox News has scored several town halls and interviews with Democratic presidential candidates, including Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn) for a second time on Thursday night, South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg in January and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) last year.
The Sanders town hall remains the most-watched town hall of the 2019-2020 campaign season, scoring 2.6 million total viewers in April.
Former Vice President Joe Biden will also appear on the network this Sunday for his first interview with “Fox News Sunday” anchor Chris Wallace since 2007.
