Watch: Senate panel grills Hegseth in first Trump confirmation hearing
The Senate Armed Services Committee on Tuesday began a busy week of Trump Cabinet confirmation hearings with the president-elect’s Pentagon nominee, Pete Hegseth, an Army veteran and former Fox News host.
Hegseth has faced a series of scandals and damning media reports since his nomination in November, however, Democratic hopes of derailing his confirmation seem to be fizzling.
Senate Armed Services Committee Chair Roger Wicker (R-Miss.) and Sen. Jack Reed (R.I.), the ranking Democrat on the panel, were able to review his FBI background check in recent days, yet to cause any serious political reverberations.
