Bob Woodward to appear on ’60 Minutes’ Sunday to discuss new Trump book, ‘Rage’

Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter Bob Woodward will appear on CBS’s “60 Minutes” Sunday night for his first interview about his forthcoming book on President Trump.

Woodward’s “Rage” includes an unprecedented nine hours of recorded, on-the-record interviews with the president. The book is set for release on Sept. 15 but excerpts released Wednesday included a number of revelations about Trump’s approach to the pandemic, race relations, North Korea and other hot button issues.  

“Woodward spent hundreds of hours with first-hand sources to write his book, which follows President Trump as he confronts the crises of his presidency, especially the coronavirus pandemic and the racial unrest gripping the country,” reads a “60 Minutes” programming announcement from CBS.  

“The Washington Post veteran reporter also obtained more than two dozen personal letters the president exchanged with North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un,” it adds.  
   
“Rage” comes two years after Woodward’s other bestselling book, “Fear” which centered on the first two years of Trump’s presidency. Trump did not make himself available for interviews for that book.  

“Rage” and “Fear” are both from publisher Simon & Schuster, a ViacomCBS subsidiary.    

Reporting from Woodward and Washington Post colleague Carl Bernstein on the Watergate scandal eventually led to the resignation of President Nixon in 1974. The investigative reporting earned the duo each Pulitzers for their work for The Washington Post.  

Woodward, 77, currently serves as associate editor of the Post.
