Kim Jong Un says he wishes Trump a speedy recovery from COVID-19
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un sent a message to President Trump Friday wishing him well after Trump announced he tested positive for the coronavirus.
State media said Kim “offered his sympathy to the president and the first lady,” who also tested positive, and “sincerely hoped that they would be recovered as soon as possible.”
Trump and Kim have met for two summits over North Korea’s denuclearization, but have been unable to reach a deal over disagreements over sanctions.
Still, Trump has praised Kim in the past, saying the two “fell in love” after exchanging letters.
Trump first announced early Friday that he and first lady Melania Trump had tested positive for COVID-19. He is experiencing mild symptoms, including reportedly a low-grade fever, and was taken to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center later Friday.
White House senior adviser Hope Hicks and Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna Romney McDaniel have also tested positive for the coronavirus.
