Ossoff rakes in more than $11M in first quarter of Georgia Senate race
Sen. Jon Ossoff’s (D-Ga.) campaign announced it raked in more than $11 million in the first quarter of fundraising for this year as he gears up for a competitive reelection in Georgia.
Ossoff’s campaign said the average donation for the campaign was $32, with more than 155,000 first-time donors giving to his campaign. Close to 260,000 individual donors gave to his campaign this quarter.
Ossoff’s campaign noted he set a record for the most amount of money a Senate incumbent raised during an off-year first quarter.
The haul underscores the Ossoff campaign’s fundraising prowess and the tough reelection bid he faces.
Ossoff’s seat is seen as Senate Republicans’ prime pickup opportunity, in addition to Michigan. In 2021, Ossoff narrowly defeated former Sen. David Perdue (R-Ga.) in the runoff by just more than 1 percentage point.
“I’m grateful to the hundreds of thousands of record-shattering supporters who have already joined what will be the biggest and most relentless turnout effort in Georgia history,” Ossoff said in a statement.
No Georgia Republicans have thrown their hat in the ring to take on Ossoff as Republicans wait to see whether Gov. Brian Kemp (R) makes a run for the seat. But other Georgia GOP members have indicated their interest should Kemp decide to forgo a bid.
