Watch live: Kevin O’Leary, experts testify on Chinese exploitation
The House Select Committee on the CCP and Senate Special Committee on Aging are holding a joint hearing Wednesday afternoon looking at potential risks to American investments in China and Beijing’s perceived exploitation of retirees.
The hearing comes as a trade war between the U.S. and China was sparked by President Trump’s reciprocal tariff announcement last week. The latest round of import taxes on Chinese goods went into effect Wednesday — totaling 104 percent after a back-and-forth of retaliatory actions between the two countries.
Trump announced a pause in a number of other reciprocal tariffs that had been put in place Wednesday.
“Shark Tank” investor Kevin O’Leary, who will testify Wednesday, has pressed the Trump administration to go even further to protect American investment. The CEO of the American Securities Association and founder of the National Elder Fraud Justice Coordination Center are also on the witness list.
The event is scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m. EDT.
