Watch live: Katy Perry, Lauren Sánchez, all-female Blue Origin crew blast into space
A high-profile crew on Monday is set to become the first all-female flight into space since 1963, aboard Blue Origin’s New Shepherd capsule.
Members of the crew include recording artist Katy Perry, journalist Gayle King, aerospace engineer Aisha Bowe, civil rights activist Amanda Nguyen, movie producer Kerianne Flynn and philanthropist Lauren Sanchez, the fiancée of Blue Origin’s owner, Jeff Bezos.
They have been in West Texas for a few days for training and getting fitted for space suits. The spaceship is expected to spend about 10 minutes beyond the atmosphere before heading back to earth.
