Hawaiian Airlines letting customers trade points for COVID-19 test kits
Hawaiian Airlines is now allowing their customers to use their frequent-flier miles in exchange for COVID-19 test kits.
The airline announced a partnership with Vault Health that provides members of their loyalty program with an opportunity to put their unused HawaiianMiles to use as air travel is down due to the global pandemic.
Travelers who have racked up 14,000 miles or more are eligible for the limited-time promotion.
“We remain dedicated to making testing for our guests as convenient and accessible as possible,” said Avi Mannis, Hawaiian Airlines senior vice president for marketing, in a statement.
The at-home test process involves contacting a testing supervisor to walk the customer thorough taking a saliva sample. Once the sample is taken, it express-shipped to a lab. Results are generally available within 24 hours of the lab receiving the testing kit, with a guaranteed total turnaround time of less than 72 hours.
“Our at-home supervised saliva COVID test provides a safe, convenient and reliable result delivered pre-travel,” said Vault Health Founder and CEO Jason Feldman. “We are excited to work with Hawaiian Airlines who continues to innovate on behalf of their customers making travel easier and safer for everyone.”
Vault Health kits are valued at $119.
The news comes as the nation continues to be ravaged by a massive surge in coronavirus cases. The U.S. reported over 140,000 new coronavirus cases on Wednesday alone.
