Watch: Trump, Norwegian PM give remarks amid tariff turmoil

President Trump and Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre are giving remarks Thursday afternoon following a meeting at the White House, as the president attempts to navigate his trade war.

Støre’s visit comes after Trump imposed a 10 percent baseline tariff on nearly all foreign imports and rolled out higher “reciprocal” taxes for many nations. The move rocked both the global trading system and the markets at home.

Norway was hit with a 15 percent reciprocal tariff before the president put the majority of retaliatory tariffs on pause for 90 days, leaving room for negotiation.

The meeting between the two leaders also comes as the Trump administration has made strides to help bring an end to the Russia-Ukraine war. Støre has been a vocal supporter of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky — including after the Oval Office spat earlier this year between Zelensky and Trump.

The bilateral meeting was scheduled to begin at 1:05 p.m. EDT.
