Witness Mellissa Carone says she’s not self-quarantining after Giuliani’s COVID-19 diagnosis

Mellissa Carone, whose testimony at a Michigan hearing on voter fraud went viral last week, said she is not self-quarantining after Rudy Giuliani tested positive for COVID-19.

After Giuliani’s diagnosis, the Ingham County Health Department ordered anyone who was in close contact with the former New York City mayor, or within 6 feet of him for 15 minutes, to self-quarantine, according to The Washington Post. The rule also applied to those who did not wear a mask during the hearing.

Carone told the newspaper that she was not made aware of the advisory, and was not worried about contracting the virus.

“I would take it seriously if it came from Trump, because Trump cares about American lives,” Carone said. She added that if networks such as One America News or Newsmax “told me to go get tested, I would do it.”

Carone testified to Michigan lawmakers while sitting beside Giuliani during a hearing in Lansing. Video of her testimony that went viral shows Carone sitting close to Giuliani, and hardly any attendees were wearing masks.

Carone also took photos with Giuliani, according to the Post.

President Trump announced Giuliani’s diagnosis in a tweet on Sunday, and his diagnosis quickly prompted the Arizona legislature to close since multiple GOP lawmakers came in contact with him.

Giuliani’s son Andrew Giuliani said on Thursday that his father has gotten better since he was admitted to the hospital.

Meanwhile, Trump campaign legal adviser Jenna Ellis has also tested positive for COVID-19.
