Watch: House Budget Committee considers Trump’s legislative agenda
The House Budget Committee on Friday morning held a markup of the GOP’s “big beautiful” reconciliation bill, which seeks to advance President Trump’s legislative priorities.
The panel of lawmakers is expected to focus mainly on the expansion of Trump’s 2017 tax cuts and state and local tax (SALT) deduction caps. The legislation also includes steep cuts to Medicaid and other social programs such as food stamps.
Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) on Thursday signaled that changes will be made to the bill in order to win support from conservative and moderate Republicans that have balked at some of its provisions.
