Watch: Trump, Hegseth set to make national security announcement
President Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth made an announcement from the Oval Office Tuesday afternoon.
Defense Department officials told The Hill and NewsNation that the comments would focus on national security.
The remarks came after Trump’s trip to the Middle East last week, when he visited Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates, to tout significant investments.
Multiple outlets have reported the announcement is centered on the president’s proposal for a Golden Dome missile defense system. It also comes after Trump said he will accept a luxury jet from Qatar’s royal family, which sparked controversy on both sides of the aisle.
